TORONTO, June 11, 2020 /CNW/ – Today,truLOCAL, a Canadian meat subscription company that delivers high quality meats produced on small farms directly to local consumers’ doors, announces the launch of a grant program dedicated to fueling tech innovation led by Black entrepreneurs in Canada. The company is also donating $5 from the sale of each of its popular Father’s Day Steak Boxes to the Black Health Alliance, a charity that works to improve the health and well-being of Canadian Black communities.

I want our focus to be on making sure other Black founders have equal opportunity to make a positive impact on Black communities across our country.”
The truLOCAL Equal Opportunity Business Grant will begin taking applications June 12 to 26. Two applicants will be awarded with a $5,000 grant each on July 3. Applicants must send a video regarding how the monies will be used and impact their community. Lafleur, a Dragons’ Den alumni, will personally review applications and dedicate time to mentoring recipients.
truLOCAL is also aiming to raise thousands of dollars by donating $5 from the sale of each of its popular Father’s Day Steak Boxes, available for purchase until June 24 at truLOCAL.ca/fathersday. To receive in time for Father’s Day, online orders must be placed by June 17.
In addition, truLOCAL has launched a resource page with information on how to support change for the BLM movement. The page will also showcase grant applicants in an effort to rally additional awareness and support for their ideas.
