Situated in West Toronto at 9,000 square feet, the Longevity House is an innovative sanctuary for the health conscious. It is the brand-new home to health practices backed by cutting-edge technology and the best practitioners in their respective fields. Founded by entrepreneur Michael Nguyen, he comes from the fashion world, having tailored for Ryan Gosling, Drake, and Jeff Bezos.
“I’ve had many famous clients, and the one thing they all have in common is that they use their money to invest in their bodies to deliver their gifts”, Michael admits. The Longevity House was inspired to contribute to lengthening people’s health spans, so they can fulfill their purpose in their lives. The service menu is designed to create alignment in the mind, body, and soul, and includes practices such as bio charger, red light therapy, vibration plate and katalyst.
The health and wellbeing of his family and friends heavily influenced Michael’s approach to his own health as well as his eventual initiative with the Longevity House. He admits, “my family has a genetic predisposition to cancer, it was something that has been on my mind since I was a kid. It is something that we all deal with, but some people deal with it younger than others. As a young person, I’ve been thinking about how we can prevent cancer.
Now as an entrepreneur, I also think about how to perform better every single day”. Michael understands that everyone has a unique DNA, therefore some well-known health and wellness practices will help some people and not for others. At the Longevity house, Michael and his team of practitioners are looking for feedback from clients and are using data and science-based measurements. Despite his background in the traditional field of tailoring, Michael was guided by the integrity of community in his work, and will continue to cultivate a sense of belonging through his endeavours in health and wellness.
“Humans operate the best when we’re a part of a collective and share a common awareness. By being a part of a club/team/community, it is harder to fall off track. We are stronger together than we are on our own, and that is what I’m honing in on through the Longevity House”.
Fashion and celebrity culture is notorious for spreading false narratives regarding health, wellness, and body image. When asked about the greatest misconception around health, Michael acknowledges, “how you look on the outside has very little to do with how healthy you are on the inside. People still believe that just because you look good or have a six pack, that means you’re healthy. As cliché as it is, its what is on the inside that counts”. The narrative around health and wellness has primarily focused on disease prevention. While that is still an important element in one’s longevity, Michael is directing his attention and energy into health creation.
He describes health creation as “the balancing of mind, body and spirit. Its the amount of years you live on the earth as fully healthy without a chronic illness. Basically optimizing the years when you have the ability to fulfill your purpose in life, and contribute to that for as long as you can”. Since the Longevity House is a place where community can thrive, Michael is particularly excited for the group clinical studies. “Oftentimes, I think therapeutic studies are hard to follow when you do it on your own. Individuals in society can do things together and feel more motivated to continue”.
A community within health and wellness is very influential on the industry as a whole. When multiple people make a specific lifestyle change with positive results, the ripple effect can change certain practices from being taboo to being celebrated. Michael explains “On our own, we only have certain influences. As a group collective, when you do something and all of you can speak to it, its pretty powerful”.
To inspire this holistic approach to extending the health span, the Longevity House balances city and earth on a ravine 20 minutes away from Downtown Toronto. The scenic property is ideal for grounding in nature as members nurture their health span, and by extension, their life’s purpose.
