Sanah Gabor, founder and CEO of Samson’s Daughter, has created a brand that not only offers great coffee but also fosters a deeper connection between the coffee experience and the memories we create around it. Read the story about Samson’s Daughter.

Samson’s Daughter is more than just a coffee brand – it’s a celebration of creativity, sustainability, and community. With ethically sourced beans, locally-made packaging, and unique blends designed for both sipping and cooking, the brand invites you to see coffee as a versatile ingredient for life’s memorable moments.

A coffee brand that connects the culinary and coffee worlds, Samson’s Daughter was inspired by Sanah’s late father, Samson. It is a tribute to his love for food, family, and community. Each roast is thoughtfully designed and named to reflect the stories and cherished memories that have shaped Sanah’s journey.

We sat down with Sanah to learn about Samson’s Daughter and her mission to redefine the way we experience coffee.

Your journey with coffee started while working at a coffee shop and evolved through baking and blogging. How did those early experiences shape your vision for Samson’s Daughter?

“Working as a barista helped me to explore the nuances of coffee and deepened my appreciation for the art and science of crafting the perfect cup. It gave me the chance to discover coffee as a flavourful ingredient and as I experimented in the kitchen through blogging, it helped me get more creative with my recipes. These experiences inspired me to imagine a coffee brand that celebrates the versatility of coffee and encourages others to see it as more than just a drink, but as a staple culinary ingredient.”

Partnering with local coffee roasters and prioritizing sustainability are key pillars of your brand. What drives your commitment to these values, and how have they impacted your business growth?

“From the beginning, I knew that partnering with a trusted coffee roaster would be the cornerstone of our brand. I wanted to ensure our beans were not only of the highest quality but also sourced sustainably – especially as a brand that highlights coffee as both a daily beverage and as an ingredient in our recipes. It was extremely important to us to collaborate with a roaster that shares our commitment to quality, sustainability and giving back to the farming communities. As a result, we’ve been able to build a loyal community that resonates with these values and supports our mission.”

Your brand positions coffee as both a beverage and a culinary ingredient. Can you share how this has resonated with your customers?

“It’s been so exciting to see how our social media followers and customers have embraced the idea. We’ve been getting positive responses from people who have felt inspired by our recipe videos and have been enjoying seeing all of the creative ways they can use coffee. Highlighting coffee as a culinary ingredient has allowed people to view coffee as more than a morning ritual and I hope we can continue to encourage our customers to experiment in the kitchen and make special memories with their loved ones.”

What challenges have you faced in implementing eco-friendly practices?

“Balancing sustainability with affordability has been one of our biggest challenges. Choosing eco-friendly packaging options can be costly, and while we’re not yet in the position to fully switch to compostable packing, I see it as an investment for us in the future. In the meantime, we’ve partnered with an eco-friendly packaging company that offers low-minimums, uses carbon neutral technology and supports sustainability through various initiatives, including their tree-planting program.

Your brand invites people to explore coffee creatively. How do you engage with your community of coffee enthusiasts?

Social media, especially Instagram, has been critical for our business. We also have collaborated with other small businesses and have had our coffee served at events and sold at a local artisan shop, allowing us to create more opportunities to engage with new customers and drive sales. We hope to have more in-person events in the new year.

“Our brand is built on a foundation of family memories and special moments and our hope is that through every sip and savour, we can facilitate special connections, warm moments, and flavourful experiences, “ shares Sanah. “I’m so grateful to everyone who has supported our journey so far and we’re so excited for what the future holds for our business.”
