Toronto, ON – Dan-e-o (Daniel Faraldo) is an award-winning Canadian hip-hop artist, songwriter and actor of Jamaican and Spanish descent. The emcee’s highly anticipated single, “Cleanse My Soul” drops on all major music platforms on February 9th. On the new song, the veteran Scarborough lyricist joins forces with legendary Brooklyn emcee, Masta Ace and Toronto soulstress, Xentury. “Cleanse My Soul” condemns the presence of self-hate in the black community.
The single, produced by Charisma a.k.a. Skizzz, takes aim at outspoken artists such as Kanye West and the controversial killing of Tyre Nichols. Never afraid of the reaction to his lyrics, Dan-e-o’s scathing commentary makes “Cleanse My Soul” his most provocative single to date. Believe it!
Respected as an accomplished wordsmith whose lyrics always speak his truth, Dan has stayed the course for more than three decades. His raw passion is evident in “Cleanse My Soul”. It’s clear why Dan-e-o continues to have a seat at the Canadian hip-hop table.
Dan-e-o is one of the 12 members of the Scarborough collective, Monolith as well as the duo, Perfeck Strangers. Monolith is widely regarded as one of Canada’s greatest crews of emcees, as acknowledged by Kardinal Offishall at the 2023 Juno Awards. Knowing there were stories to tell and wanting to tell them his way, Dan-e-o co-founded One Rock Records in 1997 and went on to release highly successful albums and singles under the label’s umbrella.
This wasn’t before the multi-talented artist released the single “Dear Hip Hop” on Beat Factory’s Rap Essentials Volume One compilation in 1996. It is now considered a Canadian hip-hop classic. Dan followed with his debut LP, The Book of Daniel in 2000 and follow-up, See No Evil, Hear No Evil in 2004, solidifying his place at the industry table. As part of his creative journey, Dan-e-o is also an actor appearing in the A&E series, “Breakout Kings” as well as the feature films Anything Goes, Tapped Out, Lifechanger and the Disney+ feature, World’s Best.
But with music always first in mind to express his own words and thoughts, Dan has never forgotten his roots. In 2014, he welcomed his daughter, Melina who he proudly proclaims as his greatest achievement. The new father dedicated his fifth solo album, appropriately titled, The Day It All Changed to her. Dan-e-o’s fan base is strong, incorporating both fellow artists and concert goers across the world. Writing and performing without fear and with honesty has long made Dan-e-o one of Canada’s most sought-after and highly touted hip-hop artists and lyricists. “Cleanse My Soul” provides a new reason why. His sixth solo album, Vigilante is due out this April.
