TORONTO, Feb. 1, 2018 /CNW/ – Mercedes-Benz Canada and its national dealer network retailed a total of 3,586 vehicles in January. Supported in part by strong sales of the popular E-Class family of vehicles (+86.5%) and GLC Coupe and SUV (+42.5%) models, the January total nearly puts Mercedes-Benz Canada on pace with its record-breaking 2017 numbers.
Bolstered by sales of the company’s Mercedes-AMG models, which grew by 4.9% year-over-year, Mercedes-Benz Canada sold 1,328 passenger cars and 1,649 luxury light trucks in January. This brought the total number retailed to 2,977.
The Mercedes-Benz Vans division continued to report strong gains with 589 vehicles sold, for a growth of 18.8%. Sales of Metris passenger and cargo vans maintained their momentum, with 157 vehicles sold for a year-over-year increase of 76.4%.
20 smart fortwo vehicles were delivered in January.
The Pre-Owned division reported its best-ever January results with 1,133 units retailed, representing a growth of 17.2% over the same period in 2017. That total included 862 Certified Pre-Owned vehicles – also a best-ever January result – for an increase of 11.5% compared with last year.
“2017 was an outstanding year for our brand and our organization. Now, we have an opportunity to reset, take stock, and make plans for the months ahead,” says Brian D. Fulton, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Canada. “In 2018, we will continue to deliver great products and services, focus on finding new ways to delight our customers, and support and empower our employees to do their best work in all areas of our business. We’re also looking forward to launching exceptional new vehicles such as the new Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S 4MATIC+ SUV and Coupe.”
