TORONTO, March 26, 2020 /CNW/ – As the COVID-19 crisis continues to cost hospitality workers their jobs and/or much of their income, two Canadian companies are joining forces to ensure they can quickly and efficiently be available and ready to work in other industries.

Staffy (Staffy.com), an on-demand marketplace with 30,000 skilled hourly workers, has already shifted their focus during this COVID-19 crisis from hospitality to a range of other industries. Staffy is now offering its platform to seniors living centres, healthcare organizations, grocery and food distributors, as well as manufacturing, general labour, and delivery organizations.

Since 2016, Spiffy has built a reputation as “the Instagram of staff training” by efficiently educating teams on important policies, procedures and products. Now, in light of COVID-19’s devastating effect on the hospitality industry, Spiffy will assist restaurant professionals to navigate temporary career transitions, and quickly mobilize a workforce to support the essential businesses that are keeping our communities healthy and safe during this crisis.

Spiffy will offer free, mobile-based modules on proper sanitization protocols and the option to upload custom job guides, and in partnership with Staffy, will redirect proceeds to support the restaurant community.

During emergency hiring sprees, this partnership will ease the pressure on those companies working tirelessly to recruit and onboard new hires, and update their existing teams on new procedures.

Staffy CEO Peter Faist: “We know hospitality workers are some of the hardest workers out there. We have been reaching out to other companies and organizations to assist them in staffing up. We are happy to partner with Spiffy to ensure they are ready for new challenges in other industries, and to provide help to employers looking to access a scalable and eager workforce.

Spiffy CEO Chris Snoyer: “Much like the brewers and distillers who repurposed their equipment for the production of hand sanitizer, we’ll replace our beer, wine, and spirit education with modules on sanitization protocols and quick job guides for those transitioning to new roles during this crisis. We’re excited to partner with Staffy to connect restaurant workers with new opportunities in retail, healthcare, and more.”

Staffy is a modern solution to staffing challenges. We facilitate quick and efficient connections with skilled contractors, to address immediate, short-term or long-term staffing needs, and we provide the opportunity to instantly pick up shifts tailored to their skills, experience, and schedule.

Spiffy is a mobile microlearning tool for front-line staff. We empower workers to complete training from anywhere, at any time. A modern and efficient alternative when rolling out new policies or procedures across your chain.
